Girls and women of India are treated as weaker people, who need security to be protected. Society makes them realize that they are nothing without a man- No status, No support, No identity and there is even no reason to live.
Women and girls who compare themselves to these ideals and stereotypes suffer from anxieties about their appearance, feeling of shame, eating disorders, low self-esteem and depression. And other people influenced by the media and entertainment industries objectification harass these women and girls with eve teasing and girls with other forms of harassment
Society’s role in our life
Society has made a pre-decided structure for the women’s action and behaviour. In short they want women to work as robots, who work on their command. Now the number of robots is decreasing day by day. Women are speaking up. They are learning to say “No“. They are fighting *for* themselves.
Let’s comes together
So stand with us and shout “Girls are not items!” share our video to fight against the objectification of women and remove this traditional toxic idea. Help us, and help yourself by spreading the awareness that women are humans with the same rights and deserve the same treatment as men. Alert your community against these evil sayings.
A bit about the workshop
Before making the video we did 3 workshop sessions where we talked about the comments which we use to get on a regular basis that stereotype negatively the females. By observing these we could discuss the patriarchy system. The participants submitted the sentences that they identified to compile a big list of 70 sentences that devalue the role of women. All together made a really harsh list, Still nobody reacted to it. Those sentences were adopted by women in the most natural way. They accepted it as a fee to be born as a girl and include it as a habit in their communication repertoire.
So we come up with the video so people can feel and understand the pain behind it.
